Forest Shadows

In Lapland, spring is not the absence of winter and summer, like in milder climates, but their coexistence. Days are long and often full of sunshine, but at the same time, the country is still covered in snow and at clear nights there’s a good chance to see the polar lights. Even though needles of the pines and spruces are again green (in stead of nearly colourless in the dark season), Laplands spring forests are optimal for black and white photography due to the playful shapes of shadows on snow covered ground.
